The Dart Sexual Health Leadership Scholarship

Who can apply?

Anyone going into a post-secondary program that wants to pursue studies and provide services in sexual health. You must demonstrate how you have worked or volunteered in sexual health leadership.

Who funds this scholarship?

This scholarship was created by Garry Dart (they/she/he) in partnership with the Halifax Sexual Health Centre and Sexual Health Nova Scotia as a way to give back to community in ways they are passionate about. The scholarship amount will be based on fundraising and a yearly financial commitment by me. Donations can also be made through Canada Helps (QR code below). The Scholarship will be a minimum of $500. It is our first year and we will continue to strive to increase both the amount and number of scholarships available in the future.

What to include in your application:

• A one-page letter

  • This should include why you want to go into sexual health, what experiences you have in sexual health leadership/education, and what you are passionate about!​

• A resume/CV

• A letter of acceptance to a post-secondary institution in Nova Scotia

  • This can be provided after application​

• Be a resident of Nova Scotia​

• Email applications By April 1st, 2026 to garrydart@gmail.com​

• Scholarship applications will be rated by a demonstration of financial need and lived, volunteer and/or work experience. Applications will not be based on grades.

Those living with HIV, People of Colour, Black, Indigenous, 2SLGBTQIA+ and people living with disabilit(y)(ies) will be prioritized based on self-disclosure.
